Long Term Support (LTS) Policy

Long Term Support EVE-OS Releases

Long Term Support (LTS) EVE-OS releases include new features and fixes every 6 months. We continuously monitor the Linux kernel, choosing to include new versions in EVE-OS after they have been thoroughly tested and endorsed by the community. We also evaluate all security patches for criticality and include them in EVE-OS when prudent.

EVE-OS will be updated every 6 months and will include the LTS Linux kernel version that was released in the previous year. LTS release support includes two years of full support for major bug fixes and security patches. Limited Support is provided for End of Life (EOL) release versions in the 3rd and last year of the support period.  This provides customers with one year to transition to the newest EVE-OS LTS version.

EVE-OS LTS releases will meet the following criteria:

  • Include bug fixes and required patches published since last EVE-OS LTS release.
  • Pass extensive new features and regression testing. (The upgrade process from the current LTS version to the new LTS version is included in testing)
  • Accompanied by a complete Software Bill of Material (SBoM).

Note: If the customer chooses to keep the same EVE-OS version beyond the 3-year period, then a commercial arrangement can be negotiated on a case-by-case basis between ZEDEDA and the Customer.
