Manage ZEDEDA Edge Kubernetes App Flows Installed Applications Using the GUI

Introduction

An application (represented as a helm chart or manifest) is like the blueprint or template of a software application. An Installed Application is the specific, running copy of that app on a ZEDEDA Edge Kubernetes Service Cluster.

Prerequisites

Manually Add a ZEDEDA Edge Kubernetes App Flows Application

You can manually add an app directly to Installed Applications as a one-time addition. If you plan to install it multiple times or if you want to make it available for others to install as well, you would use the ZEDEDA Edge Kubernetes App Flows Marketplace instead.

Add Details

  1. Click Edge Kubernetes > Installed Applications in the left panel.
  2. Click + to add the new application.
  3. In Kubernetes Apps, select your app from the drop-down.
  4. In Version, select the version from the drop-down.
  5. Enter the Install Name.
This is unique across the enterprise and cannot be changed.
  6. Enter the Install Title.
This value is not used by the ZEDEDA Cloud system. It’s offered to give you more flexibility in organizing your enterprise. It can be changed after you create the object.
  7. Select the Project that is associated with your cluster.
  8. Enter a Description to help other admins understand the purpose of the network or any important details.
  9. Enter keys and values for your Cluster Tags.
For example, you could tag them as “environment:production” or “criticality:high” or “location:us-west”.
    • Select the tags you created when you created your Edge Kubernetes Clusters, then only those clusters matching those tags will display in the list for the next step.
  10. Select your Cluster from the list.
    • You can only select one cluster.
  11. Click Next

Edit Values

You can edit your application values by Options or you can edit by YAML. Options and YAML are both specific to your app, so the configuration choices will vary.

  • Options (if available) are a series of questions to answer. The answers will be fed directly to the YAML config. This is optional.
  • YAML contains the key:value pairs that you can configure manually.
